  1. Amazing! This reminded of the Hostess Fruit Pies I used to have as a kid in the States. We also tried it with apple pie filling, which really hit it big with the adults. The kids prefer cherry or blueberry.

  2. We used to do this when I was a Girl Scout over a campfire. No electric sandwich makers out in the woods, the butter goes against the grill, and you can use any kind of filling. Try it with apple or cheese next time.

  3. I was given this recipe from a request, and it is so funny how I forget things like this! Especially when it is so wonderful! I use to make these when DH and I first got married, and they are wonderful! Thanks for posting this and reminding me of this terrific treat!

  4. This was really good as a "convenience" quick treat. I tried my new mini-grill (Foreman type) out on these and was very pleased. I would suggest editing the recipe for novices like me who had to debate long and hard about whether to put the buttered side in or out! Made it with low calorie bread, sugar free pie filling, and put FF cool whip on top--very, very good! I'm going to try with pumpkin next.
