Cherry Slush- Non Alcoholic

  • 2 cups cherry juice (try a blend cherry& raspberry, cherry& cranberry, etc..)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cups frozen unsweetened tart red cherries or (16 ounce) can unsweetened tart red cherries, drained
  • 1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed, undiluted
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 (2 liter) bottle carbonated lemon-lime beverage, chilled

  • Combine cherry juice blend and sugar in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves and mixture boils. Reduce heat; simmer 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • In blender or food processor container, combine cherries, orange juice concentrate and lemon juice. Blend 1 minute, or until cherries are pureed. In a 6-cup freezer container, combine cherry mixture and sugar mixture; mix well. Cover tightly; freeze 5 hours or overnight.
  • Remove cherry mixture from freezer 30 minutes before serving. Put 1/4 cup slush in each glass; add 1/2 cup carbonated beverage to each glass. Serve immediately. Freeze remaining slush for later use.
  • A shot of your favorite alcohol may be added to individual glasses when adding the lemon-lime soda if desired.

  1. Here's a GREAT SUMMER DRINK! Made as directed, & although, at first I was going to cut back on the sugar, I didn't, & it all turned out just fine! I used sprite for the lemon-lime beverage, but another time I'd like to try either mt dew or squirt! Thanks for sharing! [Made & reviewed in the Family Picks part of Zaar World Tour 4]
     
  2. I really liked this but others found it to be too sweet. I used cherry-cranberry juice and ginger ale. Very pretty too. Is a great and make it as you need it alternative to punch, punch by the glass, as it were. Makes a lot. I havne't put any alcohol in any servings, but next time I take it out of the freezer.....
     
  3. This is wonderful and addictive!! Love the cherry and orange flavors along with the tart and fizz from the 7up. Easy to make and very pretty! This would be very good for adults with a little of their favorite "spirit" added to it! Thank you Nick's Mom for posting this great recipe!
