1. I substitute toffee chips for the nuts in these and whenever I give them to someone new I get begged for the recipe. SO GOOD. I think the people who had issue with the batter being runny might have used the wrong sized mix. The ones that are around 19oz are usually labled 'Family Size' or '9x13'. Everytime I've made these it's been so thick I had to use my heavy-duty wooden spoon to stir.

 2. Sounds like a good cookie, but when I made them, the batter was way too runny to roll into balls. Maybe it needs to be cooled before hand? The pictures and reviews were good but it just doesn't seem feasible.

 3. I thought this recipe was great. I also did not have the problem the other reviewers had in regards to the batter being too wet. In fact, the only thing I would change is for the recipe to say flatten the dough balls a bit when you put them on the baking sheet because they do not spread at all.

 4. These cookies are good, but I don't think the pecans are optional because I think it needs salt. Otherwise the cookies are just super duper sweet! I didn't have any pecans, so I added some cayenne pepper and some cinnamon, along with a sprinkle of salt. I also used coffee instead of water. The cookies are good. Add the water (or coffee) a little at a time or the dough gets too sticky to make into balls. Also this made just under 2 dozen for me, so i think I should have made smaller balls!

 5. I made these for my husband to take to a potluck. I left out the nuts only because I didn't have any on hand. I also had problem with the batter being too "wet" to roll in the sugar. I added about 1/4 c. more flour to the mix and that solved the issue. I must have made the cookies a little small because I got about 3 1/2 dozen. Thanks for sharing this tasty treat!

Mom of a toddler and preschooler who is finally gaining some proficiency in the kitchen thanks to RecipeZaar. Trying to get some decent skills before the boys can remember me being a bad cook...figure that gives me circa 2 more yrs of practice to start getting things right ;) I'm really interested in large yield HEALTHY recipes that don't use exotic ingredients nd are easy to make ;). Perhaps once both boys are in school I'll try making some more involved recipes!
