  1. I have made these several times now and my family just loves them!! My hubby takes them in his lunchbox to work and even has one for "dessert" sometimes! I made a few changes to suit our tastes. I used canola oil in place of the butter and added one small "single serving size" unsweetened applesauce, plus I added about 3/4 c creamy peanut butter. I also cut down on the brown sugar and still find them sweet enough. Wonderful snack for the whole family--thanks for the great recipe!

  2. We really enjoyed making this recipe. My 13 years-old daughter asked me never to make it again because it was so delicious, she could hardly stop eating the bars. We substituted 1 1/2c. chocolate puffed rice cereal for some of the oats to lighten up the texture. They are an alternative to sandwiches for school or for a bowl of cereal at breakfast time.

  3. Great recipe. I did have my doubts when I put it in the pan, but it came out fine. I actually made two batches, and I let the second cool longer before cutting, which came out of the pan much better(less crumbling). I also added more than just chocolate chips. I like adding craisins, m&ms(for color), and peanut butter chips. It also turned out well when I substituted the chocolate chips for carob chips, craisins, and white m&ms for my sister who can't eat real chocolate.
