Chicken Picante

"It doesn't get any easier, or any better than this. The brown sugar mixed with picante sauce is a great new twist for chicken. We like this over rice."

  1. As my son likes to say--Simple, simple, simple. So true, but has a wonderful zesty flavor. The picante was mildly sweet and zesty and the chicken was very juicy and tender. We all loved it and the kids/husband have asked me to make it again. Thanks MizzNezz.

  2. I chose this recipe because it not only looked easy, but it's healthy and low fat! This dish was satisfying and went really well with some soft polenta and garlic green beans. Inez, it's always difficult to come up with more superlatives when reviewing one of your recipes. Bravo.

  3. This was so so so good! 1st beacause it was so simple to put together, and 2nd, because it was delicious! I only had a jar of mild salsa, so I added some red pepper flakes for a little bit of heat. Next time I will just use hotter salsa to make it a tad less sweet. Wonderful recipe!

  4. Simple and very good. Had only three chicken breasts, thought I might try with pork sirloin, only three of them, so did all six together. Pammed baking dish and poured Picante over all six. Great with both. Thickened remaining sauce with 2 teaspoons corn starch mixed in 1/4 cup water. Served sauce over brown rice as a side. Can not get any easier.

  5. This was excellent, quick, easy, tender, juicy and the picante sauce mixture had a great flavor! What more can I say except you must try this one! I can envision thickening the juices after baking and using it over rice.

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
