- 1 gallon diced tomato
- 4 -6 green peppers, diced
- 12 small onions, diced
- 4 cups vinegar
- 3 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon red pepper
- 4 cups sugar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cloves
directions
- Mix together, boil for 2 hours or until thick. Stir often to keep sugar from sticking. Can be canned for later use.

About 3 years ago I canned Chili Sauce with my father-in-law at my husbands request. "No one can make it like Dad" was all I heard. When we ran out - we didn't have the recipe and frankly Dad's up in age...so I thought I'd check here. This seemed about right to me - and boy was it ever! This is just perfect for what we Northers consider a Chili Sauce! We eat this on everything from eggs to Italian sausage! Great combination of sweet and sour! This recipe yielded 12 pint jars. Thanks for the family recipe Tim!
