  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Coat a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick spray.
  3. In a small skillet, heat oil overm medium heat.
  4. Add onion and cook 3 to 5 minutes, or until softened, stirring occasionally.
  5. Transfer onions to a medium bowl and add kidney beans and chili powder; mix well.
  6. Transfer to the baking pan.
  7. Arrange chicken pieces on top of bean mixture, pressing chicken into beans.
  8. Spoon tomatoes over chicken and beans and add reserved tomato juice.
  9. Bake about 65 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven, sprinkle with cheese, and bake 10 more minutes, or until cheese is melted and chicken is no longer pink inside.
