Chocolate Brownies

"The best homemade brownie recipe I have ever tried. My sister gave me this recipe, from the Moweaqua church cookbook. I always make these in the summertime for some reason."

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt shortening over low heat, and allow to cool slightly. Add sugar and eggs to melted shortening and beat well. Mix dry ingredients together, and then add to the wet. Stir in vanilla, and optional nuts and chocolate chips. Bake in a 9x13 pan for 30-40 minutes. 30 minutes for fudgy brownies and 40 for cake like brownies.
