  1. My son can't have eggs so I made this for his birthday cake...I thought it was okay but the texture was just too heavy for our liking, more like a dense bread than a cake, my son just turned one and it was his first try of cake so he didn't seem to mind but for cake experts, it wasn't really to our liking.

  2. Did a rerun of your recipe#235795 and made this for dessert. I was intrigued by the ingredients - no eggs - no milk and calling for club soda. Very simple and easy to make - will keep this recipe filed, be a great one to have on hand for anyone who cannot have eggs. Next time I am thinking to topping it with fudge frosting. Thank you for sharing.

  3. Wow! I do not usually eat sweets and I kept finding myself nibbling bits and pieces of it before I finally gave in and ate a full piece. So, if you are a chocolate lover, be forewarned! I added some melted chocolate peanut butter chips on top. That was a great icing. Thanks for sharing!

  5. i have made this cake about 5 times now. the first time as written, the next time, i substituted the 1 cup of chocolate chips with a mixed cup of nuts, chocolate chips and dried cranberries. the few times after that, i used a cup of several kinds of nuts (pecans, sliced almonds, walnuts) and just a dash of chocolate chips. each time it was received with rave reviews! this is such a simple and wonderful recipe. i love the club soda action on the batter - like a successful science project. thanks so much jas kaur for posting!
