Chocolate Covered Cherry Coffee

"My hubby loves Chocolate Covered Cherries. I bought a box yesterday and when I got up this morning there was a single one left in the box. I just know that in his self sacrificing way he was just protecting me from the evil sugar (Yeah, right! lol). Anyway, I had coffee making and when it was done I just popped that morsel into my coffee cup without really thinking about it. Well, YUM!"

  1. I have made this coffee numerous times, with either instant coffee or ground coffee. When using instant coffee, I heat 2/3's cup of water along with 1-1/4 teaspoons of instant coffee, and a 1/2 teaspoon of sugar in the microwave until it becomes hot. Or, heat the water on the stove in a small saucepan. After the chocolate dissolves in the coffee, I then remove the cherry from the cup, and top the coffee with a large dollop of either Reddi Wip or Cool Whip, then place the cherry on top the whipped topping. When making this with ground coffee, I'll use 2 teaspoons per each 2/3's cup of water, to my coffee maker. One thing I did notice when making this coffee, I found that not all of the chocolate from the chocolate covered cherry, dissolves completely in the hot coffee. You may still see bits of chocolate floating in your cup. I did not rate this recipe with stars, as I did not make as written, so I am just posting my review as to how I made the coffee. This was a nice way to enjoy my coffee with those extra chocolate covered cherries I have on hand. Thank you Annacia for sharing this recipe!

  2. YUM! I got a box of chocolate covered cherries for Christmas, and as I have them with coffee anyway, I decided to give this a try. Well, I'll have the rest of the box this way, too! Thanks for sharing this splendid idea!

  3. This has a good taste but then I couldn't notice the covered cherry chocolate flavor. Maybe with 2 chocolates, it would be better for me. I didn't add splenda or sugar because of the sweetness of the chocolate. Made for Photo tag

  4. What a pleasant surprise! Made for Comfort Cafe - Snow Queen Version 1/10. Transforms the "ordinary" cup of coffee, into a delightfully unexpected cup of warm, chocolate cherry cream. It's that smooth and silky-tasting. Thanks, Annacia.
