Directions

  1. Place dates in a microwave proof jug with water.
  2. Cook for 3 minutes on high.
  3. Cream the margarine and sugar.
  4. Add the hot date mixture and beat well.
  5. Add the flour, cocoa and Soda.
  6. Bake in a greased square slab tin (7 x 7") 200°C for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Leave in tin to cool then cut into bars.
  8. HINT: Delicious if topped with a lemon icing while still warm.
