  • Cream shortening and butter.
  • Add sugar a little at a time.
  • Add beaten eggs then vanilla.
  • Sift flour twice
  • Measure and add cocoa and sift again.
  • Add flour alternatively with the milk to first mixture starting with flour and ending with flour.
  • Pour into greased and floured tube cake pan.
  • Cook for 1 hour and 20 minutes at 300º starting with a cold oven.

  1. Not quite what I expected in the texture & weight of the cake, but that's NOT a minus, & the cake was definitely delicious! Of course, I'm a chocoholic, so . . . . Served the first room temperature slices with a bit of frozen vanilla yogurt & some homemade chocolate sauce that I have just sittin' around! Very satisfying! Thanks for sharing it!
