directions

 • In a pot over low heat: Melt the chocolate and margarine.
 • In a small bowl beat the egg slightly, carefully whisk into the above mixture until nicely blended.
 • Remove from heat, add the graham crumbs.
 • If the graham crumbs have not cooled the mixture to warm, allow mixture to cool to warm before folding in the marshmallows, walnuts, and cherries. You don't want to be melting the marshmallows.
 • Shape into a roll on wax paper, rolling into the size you wish - basically like a sausage roll.
 • For variety I often roll in flaked coconut which gives it an extra special look.
 • Chill in refrigerator until set, slice and serve.

 1. These are yummy - chocolate, marshmallow, cherries, graham crackers, what's not to love. I will submit another picture when I make them prettier.

 2. I have made this recipe at Christmas for as many years as I can remember, my recipe is named 'Stained Glass Windows'. I always use the coloured marshmallows and less cherries. I often roll the log in coconut and then chill and slice. Yummy!!

 3. I expected the sort of sticky-sweet thing that only a little kid could love (and I have little kids), but was surprised and delighted to get a light treat with a well-balanced flavor instead. I'm not sure I did the rolls right though. They seemed over-large for something called "dainty" and they weren't very smooth. Maybe a little extra detail in the directions would be nice for us less than accomplished bakers?

 4. You did it again, Gerry999! ANOTHER, great recipe!!! When I make your dishes, I know they will be fabulous. This is such an easy treat to make that also makes a great presentation. Everyone loved it and couldn't believe how easy. Thanks again for sharing a lovely recipe, Gerry999.

 5. Grandson is a marshmallow and maraschino cherry eater, and he is a six year old good baker. We made these for his moms Beta Sigma Phi meeting last Tuesday, and of course the best butler. Everyone enjoyed this fast and easy coffee treat. Thanks for the great recipe. Matthew and Grandma Andy

I live in Saskatchewan where hospitality and food go hand in hand. Community suppers, Beef Pit Barbecues, Church suppers, potlucks, tea and bake sales, booths at the curling and hockey rinks in winter, the ball games in summer. What is truly the spirit of Saskatchewan is that these events are for most part the efforts of community volunteers sharing their time as well as their best make and takes. Small communities along with the larger centres across the province are well known for their turkey suppers, cabbage rolls, perogies and overflowing dessert tables. Homemade of course!

I love preparing meals for my family and friends and in the sharing of good recipes be they mine or that of another. My posted recipes are recipes that are family favorites. My reviews here on Zaar allow that I have been most fortunate in the choosing of the recipes I have made. Without doubt we all love those over the top desserts and dishes to serve on special occasions and for those fives are a given. For me equally important are the recipes used in the daily meal preparation. Recipes enjoyed by my family be it a simple soup, salad or casserole are right up there with the 'over the tops' and share equal billing. Yes five star ratings ... if my family enjoyed, I would serve to invited guests, take to a pot luck, coffee hour or bake sale.

Aside from cooking and baking I admit that my interest in gardening exceeds that of the norm. I collect cookbooks, my favorites being the community and church cookbooks that have everyone sharing their favorite recipes. Enjoy yard sales on occasion but tend to keep my hands in my pockets, cannot completely resist when it comes to the glassware, baskets and of course cookbooks. I take great pleasure in reading with non fiction being my first choice when it comes to the choosing.
