  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Grease and flour a 9" x 13" baking pan.
  3. Beat the sugar, butter and oil in a large bowl with an electric mixer at medium speed until well blended.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Blend in the vanilla.
  6. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  7. Add to the butter mixture alternately with the buttermilk, beating well after each addition.
  8. Stir in the zucchini.
  9. Pour into the prepared pan.
  10. Sprinkle with the pecans and chocolate chips.
  11. Bake 55 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the centre comes out clean; cool on a wire rack.
  12. Cut into squares.
