"Christmas Noggin is an old traditional English way of making fruit preserves. It is a more interesting and wholesome form of "preserved fruit". It was usually opened and eaten at Christmas time, because of it's tendency to make everyone "merry". Found in my search for recipes for ZWT."

  • 1 apple, peeled cored and sectioned
  • 1 pear, peeled cored and sectioned
  • 3 peaches, peeled cored and stone removed
  • 3 oranges, peeled cored and sectioned
  • 1 lb grapes, seedless
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 12 cup brandy or 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 1 lemon, juice of
  • 1 cup white wine

directions

  • Place all fruits into a 1 quart jar. Make sure fruit is tight and jammed to the top.
  • Mix last 4 ingredients together, then pour into the jar with the fruit.
  • Seal jar TIGHT, place in a dark place and open at Christmas.
  • Serve with whipped cream, or hot custard or ice cream.
