  • clean fruit, grate carrot, chop nuts and peel. Beat egge.
  • cream butter and sugar, gradually add eggs. Cream until mixture is very liquid. Stir in mixed flour and bread crumbs, then remaining ingredients. Mix thoughly.
  • Pour into well greased baisins (use 2 metal bowls that hold about 3 cups each). Cover with cheese cloth or wax paper. Steam 6 to 9 hours or boil 4-6 hours. Store for several weeks before serving.
  • To serve: reheat by steaming and serve with custard or brandy butter (brandy, butter and powdered sugar mixed to a very thick frosting).
