  • Peel and core, and quarter apples.
  • Place in a large pot with the 4 cups water.
  • Over medium heat bring to a simmer, reduce to medium low and cook until apples are soft, stirring constantly.
  • Mash apples until desired consistency is reached.
  • Add Sugar, Lemon Juice and spices to taste.
  • While stirring bring applesauce to a full boil.
  • Remove from heat and ladle into clean hot jars, leaving 1/2 inch head space.
  • Process for 25 minutes in a boiling water bath.

  2. I liked this applesauce, although next time I think I'll try using a little less water. Forgot to read through the directions before I made this, and ended up at step 8 then noticed that I didn't have cans! So i just used tuppaware, and now i'm eating a good applesauce. The spices give it a flavor, much better than than the storebought, and the texture isn't like babyfood. Plus, I like that I know what ingrediants are in the applesauce. I plan on making this again.
