Chunky Cinnamon Applesauce

"From Betty Crocker's Slow Cooker Cookbook. Really simple and yummy. *CORRECTION* When I originally posted, I said apple sauce should be used. The correct ingrdient should be apple juice."

  • Mix all ingredients in 3 1/2 to 6 quart slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on high heat setting 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until apples begin to break up.
  • Stir well to break up larger pieces of apples.
  • Serve warm or chilled.
  • To chill, cool about 2 hours, then spoon sauce into containers, cover and refrigerate until chilled.

  1. This was fantastic and smelled so good. I left out the butter because I forgot it (whoops!) and cut the sugar to half a cup because I was using Macintosh apples and they are sweet already. My son refuses to eat applesauce but he "helped" me and since there were some chunks he tried it- and loved it. Thanks!
     
  2. Didn't add in the applesauce, as there really was no need for it. Used 1/2 cup of sugar, and it was excellent!
     
  3. I used MacIntosh apples and cut back to 1/2 c. sugar as Macs are a sweeter apple than the Granny Smith. I let it sit in the fridge for a few hours after it cooled down, to give the flavors enough time to mix. We had with fried pork chops, mashed potatoes and pea pods and plates were clean in no time flat! Terrific!

<p>I am originally from Johnstown, PA infamous for three floods. Met my husband online, married, and moved to Latrobe, PA. Latrobe is about a 45 minute drive from Johnstown. Arnold Palmer, Mr Rogers (Mr Rogers Neighborhood), and the now defunct Rolling Rock beer brewery, all originate from Latrobe. I have been told that the banana spilt originated here in Latrobe, PA, but that is debateable with a town in Ohio! I have one dog, and a blue heeler, no kids. Unfortunately, my beautiful German Shepard, Adrianne, had to be put to sleep on February 21, 2008. We have adopted Sheila, a Blue Heeler. I am a self taught cook, as I have learned to cook by trial and error. I have A TON of cookbooks, but all of the recipes I try are from this website.</p>
