Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Combine milk, 1/3 cup sugar, salt and 1/4 cup butter in saucepan over medium heat, stirring until butter melts.
  2. Cool to lukewarm.
  3. Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl.
  4. Stir in milk mixture and eggs.
  5. Gradually stir in enough flour to form stiff dough.
  6. Knead on floured surface until smooth and satiny.
  7. Place in greased bowl, turning to coat surface.
  8. let rise, covered in warm place until doubled in bulk.
  9. combine 2/3 cup sugar, 1 tbls of flour and cinnamon in bowl and mix well.
  10. toss apples and walnuts in sugar mixture.
  11. roll dough into 11x15 rectangle on lightly floured surface.
  12. Spread with 2 tbls softened butter.
  13. top with apple mixture.
  14. roll as for jelly roll, starting with 15" side.Seal ends and edges.
  15. cut into halves.
  16. Place each half in greased 9x5" loaf pan.
  17. Cut about 1/2" deep with scissors into 10 slices.
  18. Let rise, covered until doubled in bulk.
  19. Bake at 350* for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  20. Remove from pans after 5 minutes.
  21. invert onto wire rack with waxed paper under rack to catch drips.
  22. Mix powdered sugar and apple juice in bowl.
  23. drizzle icing over loaves.
