- 2 cups sour cream
- 6 tablespoons Crisco
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 large eggs
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 ounce yeast (package)
- 1⁄4 cup warm water
- 1⁄3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 1⁄2 cups flour (or enough to make soft dough)
directions
- Boil cream and crisco, let cool. Add sugar, soda, salt and eggs. Mix well. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to mixture. Mix all together with enough flour to make a soft dough. Place on floured surface and knead lightly. Cover and let rest 5 minute Roll dough about 1/4 inch thick. Spread with 2 Tablespoons melted butter. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon and spread on half the dough. Fold other half over and cut in 1 inch wide strips. Twist and place on greased cookie sheet. Let rise 1 hour, 15 minute Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Frost lightly with powdered sugar frosting while warm.
