  • Melt butter in a saucepan on med-low, add onions. Cover and cook for 10 mins or till onions are tender but not brown (stir occasionally).
  • Stir in flour. Then while stirring then add broth, wine, Worcestershire, pepper and Bay leaf while stirring. Bring to a boil then cover and reduce to a simmer for 30 mins - stirring occasionally. Salt to taste just before serving.
  • To serve: Ladle soup into bowls, top with toast and cheese. Broil on high til cheese melts.
