  1. Preheat oven to 375°F Grease a 9inch baking dish.
  2. Combine dry ingredients in medium bowl, whisking well. Cut in the butter and shortening with the whisk, using it like a pastry blender.
  3. Combine milk and eggs in a 1 cup measure, incorporating the egg well. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, stirring with a fork till dough forms. If dough seems too dry, add a bit more milk.
  4. Pour 1 quart of pie filling, any type of fruit, into prepared pan. Using a small cookie scoop, place dollops of dough over the fruit, making a "cobbled" effect. Brush with a little milk and sprinkle with additional sugar, if desired.
  5. Bake at 350F for 30 - 35 minutes, or until golden brown and fruit is bubbly. Cool 10 minutes before serving g with whipped cream or ice cream.
