Cookies Around the World 1 of 5

"This is a great recipe for variety (English, French, German, Finnish, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Turkish, Mexican, Greek). I have split them two to a recipe but if you want them all, there are 5 separate recipes. They are made from one basic cookie dough. I think some of them may be posted individually but at Christmas I make the entire variety. Each batch of basic dough makes a batch of two of the cookies with the ingredients I have listed."

 1. I used this recipe for my Wednesday night kid's club cooking class and it was perfect! I made up a big batch of the basic dough and then divided it into 4 of the variations. This recipe fit well into my 'around the year theme'. I used a paste food coloring and so my green filling was quite green but they still were a big hit with the kids.

 2. The hits of the party...and mind you all were good were French Cherrie Cakes, the Almond Cookies, and the Greek Clove Cookies.(It is so hard to chose a favorite.) This starter dough is exceptional. I have never had much success rolling out cookie dough and this was simple. This cookie collection is now a tradition.

 3. I'm sorry for the VERY late review! I made the almond filling version for my cookie trays last Christmas. They were well received and I will continue to use this recipe. Thank you for sharing!

 4. Wonderful cookie recipe - not sure how I missed reviewing this one as I have worked my way through all the variations - more then once! Especially good when needing to make a variety of cookies for the serving platter. Made as posted, it is a great recipe making not only for variety but lovely cookies that we all enjoyed.

 5. This recipe gives instructions on how to make two different cookies using the same basic dough. I used the whole batch to make French Cherrie Cakes. They were a huge hit on my holiday cookie trays! The cookies are so pretty and the cherry/almond flavor is wonderful. I will use this recipe again. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Sadly, CoolMonday passed away on November 16, 2007. She will be missed by her many friends at Recipezaar; and we're grateful for the fond memories we have. I'm the number one gramma of Rusty, Michael and Nikki. I know that because they told me so... hehehe...I live in the eternal city of lights, Las Vegas, Nevada. I stopped working about 3 years ago when I had some personal situations requiring my attention. I do love pizza, especially cold for breakfast the next day.. Since I discovered Zaar, I now prepare a large family meal once a month and I enjoy saving recipes and passing them on to my daughter. Most of the dishes are from Recipezaar.. so thank you very much. I have a good housekeeping cookbook that's about 40 years old and I love it... I have recipes I have saved over the years and have posted some of them. My pet peeve???? hmmmm that would have to be rude or inconsiderate people. Another pet peeve is people who "tell it like it is".
