Hello! So, I noticed on the back of the package, it said (and it’s what you are missing) there is dehydrated milk. I’m wondering if your frosting is off because the dehydrated milk is used in lieu of all the sugar. After attempting multiple variations for the frosting, this is the one idea I have not yet tried. All the frostings I have made were too sweet, so I considered using flour in place of some sugar. Then I reread the ingredients, and found this discrepancy. I will try it today when I bake my cookies, but I think it could be the issue you are having here! Maybe instead of milk, there is a small amount of water added to the butter, confectioners sugar, and dehydrated milk. ?? I admittedly have an extreme addiction to these cookies, and I will not stop until I have replicated them perfectly.

The cookies themselves rate a 5-star ranking. They are wonderful. I made sure I followed the directions and baked them just until set and not until browned. They very much taste like Cheryl & Co's cookies. IIMO, the frosting needs some revisions. The amount it makes is way, way too much for 1 batch of cookies. A half recipe of the frosting would suffice. I couldn't swear that the frosting tastes the same as Cheryl & Co, but it is a nice buttercream frosting. I love the idea of spritz cookies at times other than Christmas. Thanks for posting the recipe.
