  1. I have made this recipe several times as a treat when we head out for a week on of off roading. If I'm making it for a treat at home I usually only do 6 cups of cornflakes(makes it a little gooier and solid and then i melt chocolate chips over the top, however that is messy. When making them to be eaten in a vehicle I do as is then usually mold them in to small balls. (use cold water on your hands to keep from sticking like making popcorn balls) This recipe is also pretty forgiving i have made with things like honey bunches of oats, or frosted flakes because that is what I had on hand. (frosted flakes make it quite sweet so consider cutting the sugar a bit) I place them in a ice cream bucket after they have hardened with parchment/wax paper in-between the layers for storage.

  3. These were very good and a welcome change from rice krispie treats. I rated a 5 even though I made a mistake. I kept waiting for my corn syrup mixture to beceome VERY thin and I cooked it way .... too long. It was hard to stir. My SIL who makes these often told me to only cook them until the sugar granules are all melted, just a minute or so. They tasted great even though they were a little harder than they should have been.

  4. I worked in a local bakery when I was in high school and I looked forward to Christmas candy every year because the owner's mother and original founder made this every year. She would never give out the recipe. I have looked for it over the years with very little luck-until now. No wonder she would never give it to me as easy as it is. The only thing she did differently is she mounded the coated corn flakes on parchment paper instead of placing in the pan. Thanks for the memory!
