  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Lightly grease cookie sheet.
  3. Beat sugar and shortening until creamy.
  4. Beat in egg, milk and orange extract.
  5. Stir in flour and baking powder.
  6. Add cereal and nuts; mix well.
  7. Drop by tablespoon onto prepared cookie sheet.
  8. Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
  9. Let stand 1 minute before removing to racks to cool.
