"this is the recipe I use for my cracker Jack popcorn...I use this also now to fix any microwave corn that I haven't really enjoyed...(like cinnabon and kettle corn,,) fixed it fine..Thought I had better post my recipe before after using for 20 years, I just might loose it, since the page is falling out of my book..."

  • Mix butter and sugar, water and vinegar over medium heat.
  • Cook until AMBER in color.
  • Do Not Stir.
  • Pour over the popped corn and toss until coated.
  • Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet to cool.
  • Break into pieces.
  • Peanuts may be added if desired.

  1. Not exactly Cracker Jack -- but very tasty. I also found that it was difficult to get the coating even and the peanuts (I used about a cup of unsalted Spanish peanuts) fell to the bottom. But, DH and I agree that it is very good and would probably make again.
     
  2. This was SOO good. My friends and I ate ALL of it while watching the new OC. I used peanuts and kind of felt theyjust got in the way; it was hard to get them to mix evenly and they kind of hogged the coating. Also, it's hard to coat the popcorn easily. Regardless it is quite tasty. And don't be put off by the vinegar - the stuff smells rotten when you're cooking it, but it is sweet, I promise! ALSO, I cooked it over medium for a long time (at least 10 minutes) and got sick of waiting and turned it up to high, that cooked it right quick and in a hurry!
