ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3 ounces cream cheese
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 1⁄4 cups flour
directions
- Cream sugar, butter, cream cheese, salt, extract, and egg yolk until light. Add flour blending well. Chill dough several hours or overnight.
- When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375°F.
- Using a section at a time, roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a floured cloth. Cut into desired shapes and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 7-10 minutes or until light golden. Cool on rack.

These were made both as a trial run to see how they'd turn out & also to share at one of the weekly gatherings we attend! Passed with flying colors on both counts! I did follow the recipe right on down, but used just a regular round cutter this time! Will be making these again during the end-of-year holidays, though, & then I'll get fancy!
