Creamed Turnips

- 2 lbs small turnips
- 1 cup thinly sliced onion
- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup skim milk
- 1⁄8 - 1⁄4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1⁄8 - 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg
- black pepper
- 2 tablespoons shredded swiss cheese
directions
- Peel and quarter turnips.
- steam turnips with onions until turnips are tender.
- In a saucepan whisk flour with 2 tbsp milk until smooth.
- Add remaining milk and cook until thickened.
- Add spices.
- Pour over turnip that is in a 1-1/2 qt ovenproof bowl.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake 350 for 15 min.
