Creamy Cheeseburger Macaroni

"I couldn't help but post this recipe. It really does taste like a cheeseburger! My mom made this once for my brothers and I when we were little. I remember loving the flavor of it. Just the other day out of nowhere I was craving this dish. I did an internet search and found it at backofthebox.com, which is basically a recipe site that has recipes found on the back of boxes. This is a Kraft recipe and the blending of these basic ingredients makes the most delicious macaroni and cheese. I like it because it's hearty and includes beef. The velveeta makes it incredibly creamy and the ketchup adds a hint of sweetness. I prefer to use the big macaroni but any size will do. Mmmmmmm so good! I like to serve steamed veggies on the side."

  1. This was a very good dish. I added s&p and some onion powder (personal preferance). I will definitely make this again.

  2. This was amazing and soo simple! I will not be making boxed hamburger helper anymore! I added a little salt and pepper. I used 3/4 pound Velveeta White Queso cheese because it was all I had on hand and I shredded about a 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese to mix in. The dish came out rich and flavorful. Loved it!

  3. Tasty! The whole family liked this and it was easy to make, thanks for helping us use Velveeta besides cheese dip.

  4. I make this with ground turkey, beef broth instead of water and whole wheat pasta. Everyone (kids included) just eats this up every time I make it. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Loved this but agree with other reviewers about using less cheese. Make this for my son & I when DH out of town because DH prefers the Hamburger Helper version (gasp!).

  2. Yum-O-Roonie!! My DH does not like hamburger helper but the kiddo and I do so I wanted to try making a homemade version to see if I could bring the hubbs over to the dark side. lol He took one bite and said "WOW, this is really good!" Yeah!! The only changes I made was that I added garlic powder instead of onion and less cheese because I only had 8oz of noodles. I would REALLY suggest that people start with a small amount of cheese and add more if they want it, instead of just plopping the whole pound in at once. I think I only used about 1/3 of a pound and it was still really cheesie. Awsome recipe! Thank you!

Fortunately, my husband is supportive :) I love the Taste of Home magazines. Most of the recipes I try from their publications are outstanding. I also enjoy running long distances and exercising.
