Creamy Maple Fondue from Quebec

- 1 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons dark rum
- fresh fruit
directions
- In a big casserole with thick bottom, bring to boil the maple syrup. Reduce heat and let simmer 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl, dilute cornstarch in water. Add heavy cream and mix. Pour the cream mixture in one shot in the casserole and let simmer, stirring, until mixture has thickened. Remove the casserole from the heat. Add rum and stir. Serve with fresh fruits.

Made the recipe as given, but with one exception ~ The rum went into the whole mix just before the final simmer, as I needed to burn off the alcohol! Still, the fondue was absolutely delicious & made for a very satisfying dip! Thanks for posting the recipe! [Tagged & made in Please Review My Recipe]

I cut the recipe in half since it was made for just the two of us. Mine did not thicken up until it cooled off BUT we did not care about that LOL this is a YUMMMMMMY dip for fruits and does not overpower the taste of the fruit but enhances it wonderfully. Definite keeper and going in my faves of 2009 CB. Made for Newest Zaar tag March 2009
