“I've heard so much about Creme Fraiche over the years I finally decided to make some and see what the fuss is all about. I made this to go with my Nectarine Crostata (look for posted recipe). It was a wonderful combination. It's not a whipped cream, it's not a sour cream...it's somewhere in between. Use without the added sugar as you would sour cream, and use with sugar as you would whipped cream. Give it a chance! Prep time includes 'sitting' time for mixture.”

Directions

  1. Mix together cream and buttermilk in glass container.
  2. Cover and let stand at room temp for 12 hours without disturbing.
  3. Stir and chill for 6 hours.
  4. Stir again and serve as is, or add the sugar to serve on pies and such.
