Crispy Baked Basa

"BASA, is a member of the catfish family, farm-raised in fresh water. The flavor of the basa is milder and more delicate than other carfish; when cooked it does not give off a "fishy" smell. Serve this recipe and you will be hooked!"

  1. not sure what i did wrong, but it was soggy. The flavour was good, but texture wasnt so great. my kids wouldnt touch it :(

  2. The family loved this. I made a couple of changes. No almonds. I'm allergic to tree nuts and gluten intolerant. I used rice krispies for the almonds and gluten free flour for the ap flour. I wasn't in love with the texture of the corn meal but it had a good crunch and wasn't bad. The fact that the family loved it will have me saving the recipe AND doing it again.

  3. What a great recipe! The crushed almonds were a great touch. Feel free to add some turmeric to the dry mix for a dash of colour.

  4. My husband and kids really liked this. It's a keeper and I like that it is not fried.

  5. A nice crispy coating! I bought some basa fillets today, for the very first time and wasn't sure how I was going to cook them. I'm so happy to have found your recipe, it was delicious. Thanks so much!

Tweaks

  1. Just made this yesterday, for Thanksgiving. This was great! I used Basa and Tilapia. I substituted the cornmeal with italian breadcrumbs , (Thanks Chef #886842) doubled most ingredients (Thanks Chef #336545) and substituted the lemon peppers with Rosemary with garlic (Thanks mom). It was not salty at all and had an great taste! I'm keeping this recipe!

  2. I made this according to the recipe, but replaced cornmeal (which I didn't have) with Italian breadcrumbs. It was so delicious that even the little ones were begging for more. They said it tasted like it had come from a gourmet restaurant! Thanks!

  3. Made recipe as directed except I used cashews instead of almonds as they are my favorite. Very easy recipe and tasted great.
