  1. Cream butter and sugar until light.
  2. Add egg and beat until creamy.
  3. Stir in vanilla, flour and salt until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  5. Line baking sheets with parchment paper, or grease pans lightly.
  6. Drop batter with a teaspoon well apart on sheets.
  7. (they will spread while baking.) Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes, until edges are brown and center is set.
  8. Immediately move from sheets to cooling rack.
  9. They will be soft right out of oven and crisp while cooling.
