Crock Pot Beef Marsala

"A Sandra Lee recipe that was featured in my son's school fundraising food co-op pamphlet. A nice twist using beef cubes instead of chicken. The sauce is a thin sauce; great served over egg noodles, rice or with mashed potatoes."

  1. I just made this tonight...cook time 4.5 hrs on low was plenty of time and I used cubed stew meat! Will definitely make again and try golden MR soup and add onions, too! Also, I used Better Than Bouillion Roasted Beef Stock...heaping tsp to 8oz boiling water and mix...really awesome flavor!!!

  2. We really enjoyed this! Used 2 lbs of sirloin roast, less after I trimmed and browned. Followed another reviewers advice of using 1 can of golden mushroom and thought that just added another layer of bitterness to the already bitter marsala. Not bad at all, but may try just 2 cans regular CoM soup next time just to taste the difference. Had button mushroom, which I cooked down some with salt and pepper. Used 1.25 cups of Florio dry Marsala. The cook time concerned me and I wound up doing 4.5 hours on low and 1 hour on high. Turned out perfect! We had it over egg noodles and i think next time i might throw those into the pot and let them cook in the juice. It was recommended to reduce the marsala to cook off some alcohol, but I didn't see that until after I'd already started it. I will try that next time also.

  3. This tasted great! I did throw in some onions and used one can of golden mushroom soup in place of one can of regular cream of mushroom, which I think gave it a nice flavor and made it not so much like a stroganoff. Thanks for the recipe!

  4. I don't usually cook in a crockpot simply because DH doesn't care for foods cooked in them. He did however love this one. In fact, the whole family enjoyed this recipe served over egg noodles. A salad and rolls completed the meal.

  5. What a great tasting beef entree! I might add in some onions when I make it again, and that will be soon!
