Croutons

"Now that I make these, I won't settle for the ones in the store. (I originally got this recipe from Chef Doozer, now that she is at Zaar, it is sweet of her to review it for me!)"

  2. Wow! I used leftover hamburger rolls from a picnic and seasoned them with garlic powder, smoked sea salt, fresh ground pepper and Penzey's Brady Street Cheese Salad Seasoning. They were delicious! I will absolutly never buy croutons again!

Tweaks

  1. These are so delicious and a great way to use up old bread. I used white bread instead of burger or hot dog buns. I used about 6 tablespoons of olive oil and garlic powder/ Italian seasoning. Used them over a salad last night and we'll probably eat the rest as a snack.

  2. I just returned from a trip to South America and found the pantry full of different hot dog buns and hamburger buns... that is what my poor BF survived on while I was gone I suppose! I was craving a salad, but we didn't have any croutons in the house and this was the perfect way to use up all those buns. I only used about 3 Tbs of a really good fruity olive oil for 5 buns. Instead of the seasoning salt, I used a little kosher salt and a combination of garlic and onion powder. I only had to bake about 10 minutes until they were golden and smelling wonderful. Thanks for a great way to use up all the leftover bread in my house from now on!!!

  3. This is easy and so versatile. Instead of seasoned salt, I used salt, pepper, and herbs, and whole wheat bread.

  4. I used this bread to make the croutons #50830. I added some crushed garlic into the olive oil and used garlic salt instead of seasoning salt. Delicious! Thanks
