Crunchy Cheese Toasts

"This is an easy Taste of Home recipe that my family really likes. I love the zing from the cayenne and will sometimes use pepper jack cheese if I want a little more heat. I like to serve this with a bowl of soup."

  1. Made this for the DM and myself for lumch (I had a side salad with mine) and we both enjpyed. We don't get Mexican Blend Cheese so I used a vintage cheddar and sprinkled with hot paprika and some cayene peppe. Made for a very nice lunch thank you, Made for Make My Recipe.

  2. I really enjoyed this tasty treat. It took me back to when I was still in school...my dad used to make us something similar to this for an after school snack and sometimes even for breakfast, but his version was a little plainer. I followed the recipe exactly as written. I loved the touch of heat from the cayenne pepper and enjoyed the hint of thyme. My toasts turned out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Yummy! Made for July, 2009 Aussie/NZ Swap.

  3. I really wanted to try this because of the ingredients but was concerned because of the other review. We decided to bake at 375° instead of 300° which worked well for us.

  4. I'm not going to rate this. It didn't work well for me, but I don't want to scare anyone off. Baking the toasts at 300*F., they didn't crisp up like I wanted them too. I might not have left them in there long enough. Thank you, and I may try these again, baking longer, to see if this helps!
