Crusty Garlic Grilled Cheese and Tomato Sandwich
"I threw this together for lunch, and it was great! I bought some really good french rolls to make this comfort sandwich. I hope you enjoy it!"

- 1 French roll
- 1 medium sliced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon softened butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
- 2 slices American cheese (cut in thirds)
directions
- Butter bottom and top of roll.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Put seasoned side down in hot skillet. Don't walk away, as it will brown quickly.
- Layer one side of roll with cheese and sliced tomato and other side with other slice of cheese.
- Watch to see when the cheese starts to melt. This doesn't take long.
- Flip the just cheese side on top of the tomato side and slide out onto plate. Cut in half.

I won't post a rating until I try this again using better bread and tastier cheese. I used plain white bread which I coated with a light layer of garlic powder and Italian herbs, organic butter, vine-ripened tomatoes, extra tasty vegetarian cheese (not my favourite one) and I added a little sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper. I always toast sandwiches on a low setting so the cheese will melt before the outside cooks, and had no trouble with the outside burning before the inside was done. As made above, I'd give it a 4. -
Thank you for a great lunch! I added some bacon, but other than that, this was a good sandwich just the way VickyJ wrote it. Definitely will make this again! -
The only way you could make this possibly taste better is to put a couple of slices of thick pepper bacon in with the cheese and tomato. That would be the ultimate, and I will definately be trying it that way! -
This was quick and delicious! Who could ask for more? I used ciabatta bread and monterrey jack cheese. I loved the taste of the garlic and italian spices on the outside of the grilled bread. Also I grilled both sides of my bread. Thanks Vicky for sharing your recipe!

Hello! I am a resident of WA state, and I must say I love it here.... especially where coffee flows so freely! I live with my SO, Mark, and he has lived here since 2001 (originally from San Diego, CA). We live a quiet life and enjoy just about anything outdoors.
I love to travel... sometimes just to pick a spot on the map and make a weekend out of it. Since I have been here, some of my favorite places to visit are Oregon and Washington (Cle Elum, Leavenworth, Spokane, Bonney Lake, Maple Valley, Issaquah, etc). My favorite place in Seattle is Pike Place Market, even though I don't get there often. And, Mt. Rainier is a scene I often photograph.

There was a question posted in one of the forums about who I would love to have for dinner, right now. I answered God, Jesus, my mom, Grandma Lundin, Grandpa Lundin and Aunt Sig. They are my role models in life. Each has molded me into the person I am now.
My fondest memories are spending Thanksgiving and Christmas-time at my Grandma's house, and the whole family around. SO MUCH good food!
I lived in that small city my whole life and graduated from high school just outside of town. I have a strong restaurant background.. everything from Pizza Hut to a local italian restaurant called Vullo's. It seems, though, I have a passion for machining technology, even though I didn't go to school for that. I grew up with a local manufacturer of machine/tooling systems soldering/wiring circuit bds and assembling whole systems. That wasn't enough for me so, I went to college and obtained my AAS in Electrical Technology. The same company hired me back to work in their service dept as a technician. I had planned to go further to become an electromechanical engineer for the company, but I was laid off. I have been out of it so long, I would probably have to start over from scratch.. .that is the problem with electronics/technology.
