Dad's Favorite Southern Cranberry Jello Salad

“This was my Texan dad's Holiday meal contribution every year. When my mom use to make it for us, she would add miniature marshmallows and mandarine orange slices, but I like it better without them. I'm sure he found it ina magazine or soemwhere, but I can't find an identical recipe anywhere.”

Directions

  1. Prepare Jello according to traditional directions, using 1/2 the recommended amount of liquid (use the juice from the pineapples, the juice of the zested orange and water, if necessary.)
  2. Stir in the whole berry cranberry sauce while the jello is hot.
  3. Pour into large bowl and refrigerate 1 hour or until slightly thickened and slimy.
  4. Stir in remaining ingredients until well incorporated.
  5. Return to refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving.
