Dale's Spareribs

"My friend Dale was a big eater, as was her construction-worker husband. She made this recipe just for the 2 of them, and would double it if having another couple over for dinner (she gave me this recipe after I had it at her house, back in, I think, 1977). I have indicated "two servings", but I think maybe it can be stretched a little more :-) She always served it with mashed potatoes and cole slaw."

  1. Man this is excellent! Boy what a taste! I used beef ribs and the sauce is just perfect. The kind of sauce that when the ribs are gone, you dip your bread in it to get it all. *s* Easy to fix and so delicious. This a winner...a keeper...and getting fixed again next Sunday. I'm glad I picked this one. Many Thanks for it.

  2. A definite keeper! Ribs were so tender, the bone slipped right out. The preparation is simple. I added approximately 3 tablespoons bottled BBQ sauce because I found it a little too sweet for my liking. Perhaps I should have left out the brown sugar (ketchup is sweet enough).

  3. Yum! Made exactly as directed and we had the moistest, tenderest, tastiest, fall off the bone spareribs I've ever had. It didn't say whether or not to cover, so we tented with foil for the first 2-1/2 hours and then removed and basted, basted, basted for the last 1/2 hours. Great ribs!

  4. The sauce was fantastic....after a bit of changes! I am not really keen on ketchup, so I added 2 tsp hot pepper sauce, 1 heaping tsp of hot chili paste, about 1 heaping tsp of bbq sauce and 2 garlic, minced (a bit of horseradish would also give it a nice zing!!) I used this sauce over beef short ribs. Cooked them at 300 for 3 hours and they came out superb! My guests raved about the ribs...then came back for seconds. I would highly recommend this recipe!!!!

  5. The sauce was wonderful and the ribs were tender and tasty. This recipe is quite similar to others I have used for barbecued ribs. Try it, you will love them. The aroma when they are cooking is worth it.
