  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large bowl, beat sugar, butter, milk, almond extract, melted chocolate and egg with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Stir in flour, baking soda, oats, chocolate chips, and dried cherries.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until no longer shiny.
  • Immediately remove from cookie sheet and place on cooling rack.
