Date Chewies

"This is an old recipe, dating back to WWII, that appeared in our newspaper recently. It came with the name "Date Pies" but that is not descriptive at all. To me, they're more like a meringue that has not been baked to dryness -- they're riich and chewy. So I renamed them. Made with just 6 ingredients, these go together quickly and easily. Little work -- great results!"
