  1. I substitued 1 box of Jell-O no-bake silk pie for one of the mousse layers. What an absolutely wonderful dessert!!!

  2. This wasn't as good as I expected it to be. I made it for guests and it didn't get "rave reviews." I drizzled caramel on mine and I really thought that added to it. I realize that this is just personal preference, but we didn't care for the texture. It was like eating a combination of puddings with some cake crumbled in it. Some people may like that though. To each their own!

  3. I've been making this for at least ten years. The only difference is my recipe calls for a brownie mix rather than the cake one. A chocoholics dream!

  4. listen, i feel a little betrayed; "death by chocolate" --a dessert that has been in my family since i was born-- has always been made with snickers bars!! take that for a whirl and i promise you won't regret it :) i'm sad to see no one has posted my version of death by chocolate so i guess i'll have to add it in. thanks!

  5. I love this recipe! Instead of using cake mix I used fudge brownie mixed and also sprinkled chopped up oreo cookie's along with the heath bar! They also don't really sell the instant chocolate mousse anymore, so I had to make my own using regular chocolate pudding and heavy whipping cream!

  2. I used a family size box of brownie mix instead of the cake. After it cooled, I poked holes in it with a fork and added 1/2 cup of Kahlua. I scooped the brownies out of pan with a melon baller. To make the presentation nicer, I piped both the mousse and the whip cream into the trifle dish. This went to a party with me and all that came home was the empty bowl. Rave reviews from the party guests. It was yummy!
