Delicious Homemade Puri!

"Great, easy to make, soft puri that go well w/Aloo or Chanae or even Charisma's amazing Semolina Halwa (I think by the name Heavenly and Sinfully divine Semolina Halwa-if I'm correct). I've never made puri in my life, and I've sneaked this recipe from a professional cook, you cannot possibly go wrong with this one. Trust me!"

  1. These were so much fun to make! I was skeptical at first because I thought I did something wrong, but it actually turned out amazing! I can't wait to try it again!

  2. Followed the recipe exactly and it turned out brilliantly. Just like I had in the restaurant last night. Thank you for sharing!

  3. Before I start I just wanted to mention that the quantity of milk mentioned here was way too little. I added half a cup of milk, and then a further cup of water to make up for it. Other than that, it is a great recipe, we usually make puris without the yoghurt, oil and milk additions so I did receive many 'youre not supposed to be using yoghurt' and 'dont use whole wheat flour' type comments whilst preparing it for ramadan iftari. However, that said - all the additions were well worth it as the puris came out great at the end and even my MIL was impressed!

  4. These were D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! I was fasting all day yesterday and I broke my fast with these puris' and my halwa! The batter needed a total of 1 1/3rd cup of milk (I used Virtually Fat free milk to make these slightly less guilt-free)and not just 1/2 cup - it was toooooo less! Other than that, this recipe is perfect n came out WONDERFUL! I made this and also made my sinful and heavenly divine semolina halwa, and, both came out YUMMY! I took this whole lot of 20 puris that this made and my halwa last night to a friend's place for Eid dinner. We love to each cook something and then share the food. Their family ate n ate these puris - a little 6 yr old kid ate 3 puris and wanted 4 more:) Ultimately, everyone got a puri, plus they saved 4 for breakfast this morning to enjoy with channa masala that another friend is making for lunch(they were going over to someone's place who was making channa masala today and wanted a few puris to go alongside it, besides bread and rotis and so, I was more than happy to leave the box with them). When I say "the box", let me tell you that I stuffed the puris in a huge ice-cream container! I should've really tripled this recipe. It went so well. Thanks so much for sharing! Oh, and, this afternoon, my brother made me make these AGAIN! Last night, he had them at the Eid party dinner, but wanted more for lunch this afternoon and so, I halved this recipe and made about 8-10 puris for him. I drained the excess oil on clean kitchen napkins before serving them hot. He had ALL TEN! He actually came and gave me a pat on my shoulder saying, he's gonna miss me when I get married n go:) He wanted me to tell you that these puris are simply marvellous and he enjoyed every single one to his heart's content with his tandoori chicken. Thanks so much, a hundred stars are also less for such an easy recipe that's SO SO GOOD! Thank you!
