  • Combine all ingredients.
  • Pour into ice cube trays.
  • Freeze til firm.
  • Remove desired number of cubes from tray.
  • Grind in blender or food processor til finely grated.
  • Serve immediately.

  1. Diabetics should not use orange juice concentrate -- it's loaded with fructose (aka fast-acting carbohydrate otherwise known as fruit sugar or, simply, sugar). A better (and quicker and easier choice) would be to whir a combination of ice cubes and Sugar-Free Orange (or your favorite flavor/flavors) DaVinci syrup in a blender or Magic Bullet for great snow, slushy, or granita. A variation would be to add some citrus-flavored sugar-free soda.
     
  2. Marla is so right. Too many people do not understand what she said. Diabetics can not have concentrated OJ, even if it is diluted with water. One substitute, if sold in your area, might be Pepsi brand Orange Twist drink that is only 5 calories.
     
  3. A great recipe,was not able to serve it at our reunion outside for fear of melting,but did serve it late evening and was great.Thank you for sharing a great recipe for me and my diabetic friends.

i live in rural canada. i love to cook, penpalling, hockey,music, and wwe wrestling. also am a avid fishermen as well. my grandmother who was a great cook and baker (she owned and operated a bake shop for years) was my biggest inspiration for me learning to cook and bake.
