Doggie Birthday Cake for Dogs

"This is a great recipe for those canine friends and familly members to help celebrate a special occassion such as a birthday, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and any other holiday. It has only human-grade ingredients and is safe for people as well (it's not all that bad really)."

  1. Our dog, Boomer, turned 11 so we wanted to make him a cake. I chose this recipe because it had easily available ingredients that I didn't mind cooking with my dishes - no dogfood in my muffin tins thanks! They turned out great! I did make them muffin sized but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Boomer LOVED them! It is amazing how he seemed to know we made them just for him! We called them his birthday "pupcakes". Thanks for the great recipe!

  2. Did it! And I'd say she loved it!

  3. I put a bit more carrots and made this cake into cupcakes - iced each cupcake with cottage cheese mixed with yogourt and a mini Milkbone dog cookie on top. My four dogs truly enjoyed the party! ;-)

  4. This was great that all ingredients were in the cupboard. I did add 1/2 cup of apple sauce too along with an extra 1/2 cup of flour since I know my dog loves apple sauce.

  5. Made this for my Atlas' 1st birthday. I used 6pcs cupcake tray, and it's a bit overbaked when I decided to take them out at 30mins baking time. I think 20-25 mins should be best if you use cupcake molds. But we all liked it, i ate one, not too sweet, just tasted right! Thanks for the recipe!

Tweaks

  1. Our dogs absolutely loved this cake! I substituted the cooking oil for coconut oil and the wheat flour for rice flour. I also used a 9 inch round pan and baked at :50 for only 25 mins. The cake came out soft and moist .

  2. I made this again but didn’t have any honey. Still turned out awesome!

  3. Nothing! Would more egg help it bind more?

  4. I added a little water and used rice flour and I made them into cupcakes and I added a carob drizzle on top.

  5. I used apples instead of carrots
