  • You will need 16" of pretty ribbon.
  • 1 large envelope, with a hole punched in left hand corner,.
  • dog bone biscuit cutter, to attach to jar.
  • TYPE BAKING INSTRUCTIONS ON A PRETTY PIECE OF PAPER AND TUCK INSIDE THE ENVELOPE.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the flours, cornmeal, milk powder, sugar, garlic powder and salt. Using a funnel, pour dry ingredients into a jar. Clost jar tightly.
  • Tie dog biscuit cutter and instruction card around the top of the jar with a pretty ribbon.
  • (BAKING INSTRUCTIONS)to be type on pretty card.
  • Position a rack in the center of the oven -- Preheat it to 250*.
  • DOGGY BISCUITS.
  • Place Doggy Biscuits mix in a medium size bowl. Add 1 large egg, 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup grated Paremesan cheese -- and 1/4 to 1/2 cup (or more) hot chicken broth -- beef broth or very hot water. Make a dough that is very heavy, but not sticky. Add more flour or water, 1 teaspoon at a time if dough is too moist, Use more flour, or too dry, use more water.
  • Turn out dough onto a floured pastry cloth and knead 8-10 times until elastic. Let dough rest for 5 minutes.
  • Roll out dough.to about 1/2" thick and cut with a dog bone shaped cutter.
  • Place cookies close together, as they willnot spread -- Bake for 1 hour.
  • Rotate the baking trays in the oven, turn sheet around 180* -- and bake for another half an hour.
  • Cool the cookies on the pan for 1 minutes., then transfer to wire cake rack to cool completely.
  • Yield depends on size of dog bone cutter.

  1. i don't want to cause debate but garlic is only toxic to dogs in LARGE amounts...and what dog is going to eat several heads of garlic...i do agree some dogs have problems with wheat...just like humans...brown sugar is usually ok as well...but NEVER give your dog raisins or grapes
     
  2. ALERT! Please omit the salt and brown sugar, and most especially garlic powder from your recipe as garlic in any form is TOXIC to dogs. Sorry, grandma2969 we don't want any of our furry friends getting sick. I suggest making the ingredients safe and healthy for dogs by substituting the yellow cornmeal with oatmeal and garlic powder with cinnamon. Corn is a common filler in bad commercial brand dog food. Corn is hard to digest and causes problems long-term. I would also write the ingredients in the packaging as a lot of dogs are allergic to wheat. Guardians should know what they're feeding them.

I love cooking, and reading Christian fiction..I have 5 grandchildren..4 boys and 1 spoiled granddaughter...I also have a black cocker spaniel named Tobey..who is very spoiled..Love computer games, cross stitch and reading cookbooks..I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia almost a year ago, on September 26, 2005....was in an out of the hospital for 8 months, doing intensive chemo...I am doing well now, thanks for all the prayers...
