Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing

"My husband's grandma gave us this recipe and it tastes just like the real thing. Very easy to make (if my husband can make it anyone can!). He made a double batch and that gave us about two quart canning jars full."

Questions & Replies

  1. I don't understand the instructions that say to make it thicker, add a little cornstarch. Adding cornstarch to a cold mixture will not thicken it. Cornstarch needs to be mixed with a little bit of water to make a slurry and then added into a mixture that is near boiling temperature, stir constantly and then the mixture will eventually thicken. Should the instructions be modified to fully explain how to use cornstarch to thicken the mixture? Thank you.

  2. How can I print this recipe?

  1. Awesome recipe! I have loved Dorothy Lynch dressing since I was a kid but don't buy it as much now because it's a little pricey, but now I don't have to worry because I can just make my own! This tastes just like the real deal for a fraction of the cost! We even use it in place of taco sauce on tacos! Try it you'll like it!!

  2. This recipe is great! My husband and I are from Nebraska now living in Southern Illinois. We either ordered Dorothy Lynch online or bought it by the case full when we went to NE to visit. Now it only takes minutes and a few dollars to have the same thing! Lorraine

  4. We love Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing & this as good as it gets....cheaper, too!!! I used Olive Oil instead of salad oil per wife's request & it turned out wonderful!!! This is definately a keeper...THANKS for sharing!!!

  5. Very thin, even after adding cornstarch (how much to add?). Has a really tomato-e taste compared to DL. We love the original, but our grocery store has stopped carrying all but the tiny bottles.

I love to cook and bake. I don't have alot of spare time to cook and bake alot of things but I try something new once in awhile when I have time. I mostly collect recipes in hopes I will try them someday. My fiance finds this hilarous and keeps wondering when that day will come.
