  1. Yum! I do think a little salty bacon would have put this over the top, but for something quick, this was excellent!

  2. Apples and cheddar, does it get any better? I heated the apple a bit before broiling. Very tasty. I'm thinking that next time I'll assemble and not broil the cheese on top, it lost some of the bite that I like from sharp cheese. Thanks for a good breakfast Paula! Made for ZWT8 trip to Great Britain.

  3. Sometimes it's tough to come up with new ways to have fruits and veggies for breakfast. Loved the crunch of the apple! The honey isn't necessary. Apparently in the U.K. these are just called "muffins" not English muffins.

  4. Mmm, this was good! I halved the recipe, and I used a 100-calorie muffin and light butter made with yogurt (Brummell and Brown), because we didn't have apple butter. I just cored and sliced my apple, without quartering it, and put 2 slices on each muffin half. I used a piece of American cheese (we didn't have cheddar), and I kinda did a layer thing on each half - apple slice, 1/4 slice of cheese, apple slice, 1/4 slice of cheese. To melt the cheese, I microwaved it for about 30 seconds. This made the apple a little softer too, and when I drizzled the honey on and tasted it, it was like a baked apple on an english muffin! SO good! I hope you don't mind that I substituted as much as I did, but thanks so much for the new breakfast idea!

  5. A great breakfast. I left out the honey as well. Thanks so much!

I came to this site in March of 2004. It was then called Recipezaar. This site was the first on-line site that I ever joined. I first popped in 2003 while searching for a Peach Cobbler Recipe. In March of 2004, DH was having shoulder surgery and I was looking for a Split Pea Soup. Once again I found myself on Zaar as it came to be called. Over the years I hung out and learned from some of the best home cooks in the country, I posted over 700 recipes on the site, reviewed over 3500 recipes and posted over 3000 food photos. Over the next 10 years the site made many changes and in 2010 it was sold to to Food Network and became Food.com. Until last year we played games, talked and shared with one another. As a result of the community and the relationships I built I got to meet some wonderful people from all over the country. I also have a great number of friends that I have never meet face to face. Some of us still hang out at various places across the net. Zaar was more than a cooking community. It was an internet community of friendship. Life is an adventure ever changing.
