  • Mix flour, salt, baking soda,and baking powder together.
  • Cut in shortening.
  • Add buttermilk.
  • Stir together thoroughly and drop by spoonfuls in greased pan about 1/2" apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes @ 425°F.

  1. Sometimes the old standbys are the best recipes. These are easy, and delicious. They are very light. I used buttermilk powder mixed with water and that worked great. I made these to have with some homemade soup, but I think they would be great for breakfast with butter and jam or honey!

  3. I love the texture of these very tasty biscuits. They are very soft inside and not at all crumbly. I made 6 and used 2/3 cup of unbleached flour and 1/3 cup of whole wheat and soured skim milk with lemon juice. They have a buttery taste even with just the 1 Tbsp of heart healthy margarine that I used. They took the 12 mins to get some color and were perfectly baked at that time. These are a treat. Made for Photo Tag.
