ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 cup buttermilk
directions
- Mix flour, salt, baking soda,and baking powder together.
- Cut in shortening.
- Add buttermilk.
- Stir together thoroughly and drop by spoonfuls in greased pan about 1/2" apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes @ 425°F.

I love the texture of these very tasty biscuits. They are very soft inside and not at all crumbly. I made 6 and used 2/3 cup of unbleached flour and 1/3 cup of whole wheat and soured skim milk with lemon juice. They have a buttery taste even with just the 1 Tbsp of heart healthy margarine that I used. They took the 12 mins to get some color and were perfectly baked at that time. These are a treat. Made for Photo Tag.
